Options for Attending

  1. Live and In-Person. The ticket lottery deadline has passed, but there are other ways to be part of the TEDx experience…read on.
  2. Attend a Watch Party. The live event will be simulcasted at various campus locations so that everyone who is unable to get a ticket to attend in person can watch the event in real time. There are Watch Parties at the following locations:
    1. Lawrence Hall 206, hosted by STAnDD
    2. Holden Center, Erb Memorial Union, hosted by the Holden Center
  3. Watch the Livestream. We will be streaming the event live on our Facebook page. We will post a link to the livestream on our other social media outlets, as well: Instagram & Twitter.
  4. Watch Online Later.  Each talk will be videoed and submitted to TED for approval and then published on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel. Talks typically take 2 weeks after the event to go live on YouTube. Links to all talks will also be available on tedx.uoregon.edu once published.

More Ticketing Information

  • I was selected to receive a ticket! Where is it? Be sure you respond to the ticket announcement email. Once you confirmed (RSVP) your tickets, we’ll print a name badge(s) and have it waiting for you at check-in on the day of the event. Doors open at 1:00pm – please arrive early and bring a photo ID. You must be seated by 1:45pm; unclaimed seats will be given to those waiting in the standby line.
  • I was not selected to receive a ticket. Now what? Registrants not selected to receive a ticket via the lottery were automatically added to a waitlist. Entrants will be ordered according to their original lottery results (numbered drawing). If additional tickets become available prior to the event, these will be offered according to the next in line on the waitlist.
  • Tell me more about ticket distribution. Tickets will be distributed to the following groups of community members in the following ways:
    • TED rules cap our event at 100 attendees. While TED encourages a curated attendee list, TEDx organizers may determine how they distribute tickets for their respective events. Thus, TEDxUOregon’s goal is to make the event available to a broad cross-section of our campus and local community.
    • Tickets by invitation – a handful of tickets will be reserved for speakers and their guests, and select campus dignitaries.
    • Tickets by lottery – the bulk of tickets (approx. 85) will be reserved for UO students, faculty/staff, and alumni/community members. A separate lottery process will be conducted for each constituency to ensure audience representation from each of the 3 groups.
    • Given the limited number of tickets available, we’re asking registrants to provide a brief statement describing their motivation to attend. This statement will not be evaluated to determine ticket allocation, but rather will be seen as one’s expressed commitment to the TED mission and experience.
